Poor families often feel that placing their children into an orphanage is the only way to ensure they receive proper education, food and other essentials.<\/p><p><strong>WE DO NOT AGREE.<\/strong><\/p><p>OAfrica\u2019s programs support separated children by building strong families to eliminate child abandonment and create safe, stable and loving families and communities. With the right kind of support, we know that families can stay together.<\/p><p><b>OAfrica helps families of children at risk of abandonment<\/b>\u00a0and gives them secure futures within their communities. We work to strengthen families and communities so they can care for their own children. \u00a0We believe that poverty and ill health are not reasons for separating children from their families and that children living in institutions should be resettled as soon as possible through family tracing and reunification or fostering.<\/p><p>To accomplish this, we implement the following programs:<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oafrica.org\/home\/what-we-do-family-support-services\/\">Family Support Services<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oafrica.org\/home\/what-we-do-young-adult-support-services\/\">Young Adult Support Services<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oafrica.org\/home\/what-we-do-foster-family-care\/\">Foster Family Care<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oafrica.org\/home\/what-we-do-resilience-advocacy\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Resilience Advocacy\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li><a style=\"font-size: inherit;
